Rental Car Damages
April 21, 2017
Most of your vacation travel will occur in a car regardless if you fly to and from another state. This means that rental car insurance is as important as the coverage you keep on your vehicle at home. Travel car coverage may actually be even more useful, because you are driving an unfamil-iar vehicle around a place you have never been to.
Coverage on your rental car can be added to your general travel insurance policy, or you can opt to purchase the coverage alone. You may also be covered under you personal auto policy or un-der a credit card that you own. Typically, coverage is far more substantial if you purchase a sup-plemental insurance policy.
What is Car Travel Insurance?
Car travel insurance or rental car insurance offers vehicle coverage for all of the automobiles that you rent while on vacation. The insurance covers you and other licensed travel companions who you have authorized to drive your rental car. Rental car insurance covers you for the duration of your trip regardless of the business you rent your car with. The dates when you need the insur-ance are supplied to the insurance carrier, and the timeframe should coincide with the start and end date of your trip.
